Yes a very urban detail. Shirley...................these are direct connections to water for firemen. Many are shiny and new, some chrome. This a more pedestrian one but has great character. I think it deserves a better angle (and better light)but it was sooooo cold when I shot this I could not feel my hands.

Now i know what to shoot when i next visit some friends. I've seen a similar one, but brand new, and thought it would be a very nice addition to my urabn details collection. Yours looks very nice and rusty indeed. And colourful !

The photo is really good and now you have me curious...exactly what are these little fixtures(?) for? I'm guessing it is about 4" diameter? Love the orange and turquoise colors. Hummm that turquoise is from tarnished copper. Sure am curious what they are for Charlie.

I like the 2 eyes and the mouth (even a bit of lip under the hole) and the colors really sing. An interesting find.
