Light up my disaster - Goffen

Last weekend while driving in Jølster my friend asked me; "Is this where the new shooting range is coming ?" I turned my head to see if it was the right spot, and came so far over to the left that my wheels entered the snow edge along the road. I lost control, and went into the wood. As we swooshed by a tree (a one foot miss) and the car almost went upside down we both had the same thought. It'd probably be a good idea to wear a seat belt right now. Miraculously the only thing that got hurt was my pride, and eventually a neighbour with a hefty tractor pulled us back on the road.

There is a joke about winter driving that goes:

"As the guy from Minnesota heads for the snowbank his last words are always - Oh Sh!t!. The guy from Wisconsin (our neighboring state) is more likely to say - Hold my beer and watch this!"

Funny how quickly one goes from on the road to off the road - isn't it? Wonder what the guy with the tractor was thinking as you were off taking picts ;-)

Of course we all know that you staged all this to get an entry into the competition, right?
Just kidding, of course!
The last time I drove on ice or snow must be about 30 years ago, so perhaps I should get up there for a refresher course

Ugly feeling when one can't control the vehicle. When younger I was in two similar situations with happy end. Nice picture.

It's all about focus, Goffen, focus! You should know something about it. Or did you just do it in order to get a great light up! photo??

You don't know how many times I've almost done this! I know I'd feel like an idiot if I ended up in the ditch! lol just giving you a hard time about it. I'm glad you thought to get a shot of the action. Nothing will heal your ego wounds like a great picture!

Some folk will do anything to get a good shot :-)
Seriously though, glad it all turned out OK, a real scary moment!

Yikes! I'm glad you guys are ok. Even without your story, this image really tells a story. --Stefan
