Spray - Catman

This was shot at bodega head in California. The waves were twenty plus feet...

No surfers could be found anywhere on the coast.

A most powerful and striking image. Love how the light captures the spray.
Very well done Rich.

Fabulous! It's so powerful and tactile. A very kinetic sort of image.

Applause to you on this memorable shot, Richard.

Thank you all for your comments, I do try hard to copy techniques I have seen here on the challenge.

Miro, I initially tried to clone it out and tried layers along with feathering and dodging and burning the editing changes but the foam just looked too fake. I think people who are not all that familiar surf will not see the editing I did but coastal observers will see that something is a bit unnatural.
Someday when my PP skills are honed I may do a better job removing that rock.

Rich,
Absolutely fantastic!

Very nice and even better without the rock if I may suggest.

I can almost smell the salt water in the spray. I love that you chose to do this in b&w, it looks great! The spray is amazing in your photo Richard. It's kind of nice to see a wave slashing on its own without hitting a rock for the action. I don't know how long you had to wait for this one but it was worth it.

Richard, you did a really excellent job with this image, holding the highlight details while rendering the full tonal range. Very dynamic and powerful stuff. Can you hear my applause over the crashing surf?

I can almost feel the misty overspray from the wind whipped waves. I love this image.

Great moody catch, and the exposure helps,

Excellent, really good b&w treatment.
Can almost hear the crash over waves and the howling wind.
