I photographed this very small, dark breasted Cackling Goose in a flock of Snow and Blue Geese, numbering about 2,000 birds. Also in the flock were 3 Greater White-fronted Geese and 20 Ross's. The birds were photographed on Feb. 1, 04 along the Great River Road in Lake Co. Note the slightly rounded head shape, it does not appear as abruptly angled at the forehead as the slightly larger Richardson's race of Cackling Goose. See next photo for size.
