Smithsonian's "America on the Move" Exhibit -- September 2006

These are photos of the "America on the Move" exhibit of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History. I shot them on Sept. 3, 2006 -- two days before the museum's closure for two years of renovation. This Washington, D.C., institution was reopened to the public on Nov. 21, 2008.

All the photos in this gallery are "as is" straight from a Nikon Coolpix P2. Post-processing is often helpful for images from this camera, but this time it was not needed. I handheld the P2 to shoot the photos, using ISO 400, available lighting and the incandescent white-balance setting -- except for a few shots that called for automatic white balance. I resized the original images for online viewing.
