05.05.05 downfall

Aberdeen

An apocalyptic sky greeted us in Aberdeen,
election day here,
but I expect that tomorrow,
things will carry on as before,
just as they always seem to do.
Went with Conor into town,
we studied the posh cameras in the posh camera shop,
I've decided which one I prefer,
the one that felt most comfortable for me to use,
though I'm sure they're as good as each other.
Just the small matter of the cash now.
Then we had dinner.
Spaghetti carbonara and lasagne.
Then off to the pictures,
to see Downfall.
VE day is fast approaching.
We really enjoyed it, both of us.
I was transported back to the days of my youth,
no, not during the war, tsk
but the days when I sat transfixed,
during all the episodes of Heimat,
and Das Boot.
Masterpieces!

In retrospect, you've gotten some good pictures out of your D50. Was it the right camera?!

Nice shot.. You know that tower is an exact replica of the tower on Balmoral castle...

As long as it doesn't fall down the Princess is safe in her tower :>) or if you prefer the Prince in his :>)

Pareil aujourd'hui pour moi, j'aime les moment comme ceux là, ils rapprochent.
Congratulation pour ta photo, tu a bon gout et du savoir faire. Une image dense, avec un effet dramatic grace aux nuances et à la perspective
Bravo

Powerful composition; if it were mine, I'd clone out the street lamp on the right side of the frame...

Great b&w picture with good perspective.

I didn't think it was your choice that mattered! Remember where's it's at though - spend the time looking instaed of fussing with those lenses :)
JeremyGood06-May-2005 06:51
This is one of the better b&w compositions I've seen.
Voted.

This is awesome! Looks like Frankenstein's castle or something. Very neat narrative, as well. Glad you and Connor had some time together...that's soooo important. Good job, my friend!

Such noble creatures those old stonefaced men.The soft wispy pulled cotton clouds contrast dramatically with the stately charm of the solid monument.Except for the glass windows, one could be whisked back in time a few centuries.Lovely breathtaking shot!

I also believe that this sky is just incredible with your castle here. The black and white is a great choice, adding more drama to this image. The angle as well is simply fascinating. Great shot.

That sky ... with the great architecture against it is daunting and fantastic..
Coleen Perilloux Landry05-May-2005 23:40
Nice photo. The Old State Capitol in Louisiana has turrets like this on all four ends and it was always criticized by "local architects". It is beautiful and unique.
