24-JAN-2005

24th January, (not so) miserable day!

An accademic from Cardiff (Wales) University has claimed that today is the most depressing day of the year.
He settled on 24th January after using an elaborate formula
expressing the delicate interplay of bad weather,
post-Christmas debt, time elapsed since yuletide indulgence,
failed new year resolutions, motivation levels,
and the desperate need to have something to look forward to.
It has been a grey featureless day.
Uniform flat cloud,
not a breath of wind,
a damp chill in the air.
Luckily it was soon time to collect Aiden and he cheered me up!
Here he is defeating Doctor Octopus in his Spiderman game...

When I heard about this, I had to laugh. I've always thought the most depressing days were the entire months of February and November. Guess it's all relative. Nice to have such a free spirit along to cheer you up!

most depressing day of the year?! How silly - the first snowdrops have come up, the catkins are out, spring is on its way! Yaay!
Love your son's absorbed expression in this shot.

I don't think that generalization applies to Southern California any time of the year!

Well I beg to differ with him. Yesterday ( Jan 24th ) saw our 2 favoutire tennis players Alicia Molik & Lleyton Hewitt both reach the quarter finals of the Australian Open....there was nothing depressing in that woooeee !!
Love you haircut Aiden.

Nice picture of the little boy. I heard that it was the most depressing day of the year on television before I was out of bed. Why do they do such silly things? I immediately took a picture of a rose and a redbird and I am determined I won't let whoever said that be true.
