Grizzly Bears & Salmon

This gallery features grizzly bears and salmon in the Caribou Chilcotin region of British Columbia, Canada. In autumn grizzly bears gather on salmon rivers to feed on an abundance of spawned out salmon. These photos were shot in raw format during Sept 2006 with a Canon 1DmkII, the 30D and primarily the 500 f/4 IS lens, with and without a 1.4 tele-converter. Slideshow button is to the upper right. What a stunning nature gallery. Even 500mm with a 1.4TC is really close to these guys. It is certainly a lot more thrilling than photographing rabbits! Well done and very impressive!

Amazing pictures!!! I had the opportunity myself to watch the grizzly bears of Knight Inlet, Glendale River to be specific! That was about 5 weeks ago. More people should see and observe these beautiful creatures and get respect for them. The bears are super intelligent and clever animals and not just the ferocious predators that media wants us to believe. Thanks for placing these pics online!

As a series, it shows an intimate access to the Grizzly bear’s world with salmon, and an amazing consistency of image quality. The landscapes and shots from a distance are superb. The close-up views are extraordinarily impressive. Having met you and Linda in Canada, I’ve experienced the dedication, care and safety you bring to wildlife photography. With your artist's eye I imagine these bear photos, like your eagles, making exceptional fine art prints.
