Eagles & Salmon

The photographs in this gallery were principally made in the winter of 04/05 in areas around Brakendale, along the Squamish, Manquam, and Cheakamus Rivers in British Columbia, Canada. During winters Bald Eagles gather on salmon rivers to feed on an abundance of spawned out salmon. Equipment: 20D/30D bodies - Canon 400 mm 5.6 L and 500 mm f/4 lens, and 1.4 tele converter. Landscape photographs were made with the Canon 17-40 mm L lens. Vote :-)

Along with the already long list of things I must do in my life, I think I'm going to have to also become a poet, to be able to put into words what I think about these images. My normal vocabulary doesn't seem sufficient at the moment. You've given us an unparalled look at these magnificent creatures, so thank you for that . . and set the bar extremely high for all of us with respect to the excellence you display with the technical side of photography.

Norman, I had wanted to post an appreciation of this exceptional gallery for a long, long time, but I was so impressed that I couldn't figure how to start.
This was a stunning effort of yours (although a very enjoyable one, I would guess), resulting in a fine balance between highly impressive eagle shots, majestic mountain landscapes and haunting salmon carcasses . Hello Norman - this gallery is a visual feast. I love the way that you have photographed the salmon as well. Many of those images remind me of west coast aboriginal art - not really sure why. The eagles are spectacular - lovely, thank you.
