On March 23, 1971, I resigned from my job as illustrator for the US Army's 7th Psychological Operations Battalion to join the military service.
The document stated "Upon honorable discharge from active duty with the military service, you will be given priority consideration for reemployment by reporting to the Area Civilian Personel Office within 90 days after discharge."
In fact, I was "discharged" from my military service on April 30, 1975, and it took me 15 and half years before I was able to leave Vietnam on Oct 31, 1990. By then, it was too late for such a "priority consideration."
