I have always used Mode 2. Mode 1 uses more battery power and many users report that Mode 2 is more effective. A 1/15 second shot this good is obviously possible, but I would not count on it all the time. The FZ18 DOES provide a much higher percentage of relatively sharp images at long telephoto range than any other non-OIS or OIS camera I have ever used..

It's amazing!! 1/15 sec at 442mm focal length? goodness, My FZ1 is already giving way at 1/50sec, 420mm focal length. If I set it to burst mode maybe I can still get one relatively clear shot from 20 shots? Did you use stabilizer at mode 2, Bill? FZ1 has OIS, mode 1 only, but it's still effective to a great extend. I already loved my FZ1, I guess the FZ18 shall shock me.
