Image from a reenactment of an American Civil War battle. The unusual tartan battle flag, seen in this image, was carried during the Civil War by a militia group from McAllister, South Carolina. A large number of the soldiers were descendants of the McAllister Clan, who had immigrated from Scotland. Because of that heritage, the militia chose the McAllister Clan Tartan as their battle flag.
