I live in Willits CA, gateway to the Redwoods of Northern Cal. Aug the 12th I saw a big shadow at my bdrm window. I looked out and saw this Green Hron in our pear tree, which overlooks our pool. I didn't know what it was but it was beautiful. It soot about 1 ft. tall and had it's crest straight up I've never seen one this close, didn't now anything about them. Today I looked out and now there are 2. I wonder if they are lost. We have a lake about 6 miles away. They look like they are looking for fish in the pool. They have'nt gotten in the pool, they stand on the ladder. I took pics thru my screen. so I could look them up. Thanks for putting pics on here . It's great to have somewhere to identify birds. Just a last note..I have been seeing birds here on our prop that I have never seen before this year..does anyone know if the weather patterns are causing them to go to places they are not normally found?
