So many people are unaware that there are wild horses living today. It is hard for them to understand that our common farm and ranch animal could survive without our help.

They thrive without our help. And without a balance of natural predators, they can easily overpopulate. I have no doubt that there are cougars in the desert where these mustangs live, but not enough of them to effect the wild horse population.
