I felt royal staying at Gangtey Palace, a former royal palace. My room was in the upper floor overlooking the Paro Valley. What a start to my Bhutan trip!!

The Bhutanese architecture uses lots of wood which is richly painted in traditional patterns that can be seen throughout the country. The Gangtey Palace was also traditionally painted and decorated in the inside (images to come).
