Velvet mites:
While adults live freely and are often found wandering about, searching for small animals and insect eggs for food, the larvae try to find a host to attach themselves to, often an insect like a grasshopper or diptere, but also arachnids like harvestmen or spiders. At this stage they are seen as red globules on their hosts, sucking body liquid without severely harming the host. These larvae then develop into free-living nymphs that resemble adults.

I'm not sure about these particular mites, but it's pretty common for some types to hitch rides. Once the spider finds desirable food, they'll leave it to feast. They can be of benefit to each other (depending on the species), because the mites might hunt other insects which are in compition for the same food as their ride. Excellent find.

L English, you're right in saying that harvestmen, also known as daddy longlegs, aren't spiders, but they're not insects either. "Harvestmen are members of the class Arachnida, order Opiliones, which are more closely related to scorpions than to spiders."

Harvestmen (daddy longlegs) look like spiders but are actually insects. Two of thos "legs" are actually specialized antenna. (I know, under magnification they look the same to me, too. I'm just passing on what the entemologists have decided.) They can bite, pain similar to a wasp sting, but it isn't a worry unless you're allergic. I most commonly get bit, not by handling them, but by putting on a shirt I hung on a branch without checking it. On a risque note, harvestmen are the only insect that indulges in sex as a social activity and not merely for reproduction.

They are typically called "daddy long legs" and are harmless.

Are these kind of spiders able to hurt a person a lot?

I am told it is a harvestman spider and the red things are parasitic mites.

Are the red things part of the spider or part of what it's on?
What kind of spider is it?
