I came to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskij in 1992 as a joint effort between the US Coast Guard and the Russian government. I spent two weeks here and actually fell in love with this small town (it was small when I was there). I remember standing in my US military uniform looking up at the Lenin statue in IMG_0344 and was impressed with it. I would love to take my daughter there someday and show her what I saw as a 19 year old US service member. Even after all these years, I still miss this place...
