Arriving at dusk after several hours of driving, I chose to camp at the start of the entry road to the Gooding City of Rocks rather than risk hitting something I couldn't see on the gravel road in this unfamiliar territory. I enjoyed the final chorus of Brewer's and vesper sparrows, western meadowlarks, sage thrashers, one poorwill, and one coyote. The highway, thank goodness, was not a thorofare.
