Garden of Stone

San Bruno, CA

1/19 “Man is the religious animal. He is the only religious animal. He is the only animal that has the True Religion –- several of them.
He is the only animal that loves his neighbor as himself and cuts his throat, if his theology isn't straight.
He has made a graveyard of the globe in trying his honest best to smooth his brother's path to happiness and heaven.” ~ Mark Twain

An amazing number of soldiers! With the rolling hills of Arlington cemetery, you can't grasp the numbers there that this photo shows.

The picture is very attractive ... and I agree that it is sobering to think about all the people the stones represent.

Well done, Mark. You took a very somber scene and gave it the respect and visual integrity it so deserves. v.

A solemn reminder of what Wars do.

It's a beautiful scene 'til you think about the loss that those stones represent.
