Light Line
Death Valley, California February 2007

All six of us photographers were working this wonder of morning light. I like the way the light travels in a spiral from the faint bush in the middle of the circle around to the right side and then down the left side and then diagonally down to the right bottom of the image.

I see these backlit shrubs in the dark hillside playing a friendly game of "Ring around the Rosie". You sure caught that light well!

Your vertical version is the exact opposite of my horizontal version athttp://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/75091831 You move the eye from top to bottom, while I move the eye from left to right. This is quite typical of our styles. You seem to favor verticals while I favor horizontals. It is just the way we choose to frame our images. Your image was made seven minutes earlier than mine, and the sun a bit lower -- giving your image a wonderful highlight on the ridge, and a bit more delicate lighting on the plants. Such is the nature of light at that hour -- it changes by the minute. This is wonderful rendering of what all six of us were going after here.
