This gallery is the result of a couple of days birding at Kentucky Dam. I missed the Little Gull which ostensibly was the reason for going, but enjoyed some great 'gulling', including my 1st experience with a Kumlien's Iceland Gull-type. This gallery could easily have gone into the 'chases' gallery, but seems to stand well on its own, as I'm including several shots of both the Iceland-type and a very cooperative Great Black-back. All images were taken at the boat launch area down below the dam. I'll appreciate any comments either way regarding any of my captions. Dave Roemer, and I'm sure others, also have some great shots of these birds.
P.S.- I had originally called this bird an Iceland, but have since decided to leave it unidentified as those with much more experience with Iceland/Thayer's can't come to any kind of concensus on the bird. I still feel it is within the range of kumlieni, but could have thayeri introgression as well. A very neat bird nonetheless.
