We had been looking at the Pec on the left, which came pretty close to being a contender for a Sharp-tailed Sandpiper. It was overcast in this dark shot, but the cap was much redder and distinct than in this shot. The supercilium was bold and there was an eyering, the bill was small and all-black, and the breast very finely marked. There just wasn't enough color through the chest to do anything else with it.

I didn't even notice the very buffy Pectoral to the right at the time. I had seen this bird a time or two in the distance, but wanted a better look at it. I've seen a few of these tan Pectorals, but this is the richest buff that I've seen. In the time Jeff puts in at the Pits, he sees these, for lack of a better description 'tan-morph' Pectorals from time to time. Interestingly, he has also seen this same pattern in Semipalmated Sandpipers, which I am yet to see.
