Short-tailed Hawk was one that I hoped to get as an ABA bird on this trip, and they had been seen regularly at Fort Taylor over the last few days.

Mark Heddon, local guide, pointed this very high-flying young Short-tailed out to us as we were enjoying the Kingbird. It was badly backlit, but kept getting lower and lower, finally kiting just over our heads! (See next shot)
