Right smack in the middle of all the Ruddies, Coots, and Scaup, is a sleeping Red-necked Grebe. The bird was asleep when I found it, and didn't raise it's head for about 20 minutes. Also in the shot are a sleeping Horned Grebe (1st bird behind the Red-necked to the left, with white cheek shining), and a sleeping female Greater Scaup with that big flat head is just visible as the uppermost bird to the right.
Sleeping Red-necked isn't pictured in many field guides, but the size, distinctive grebe posture, and overall dusky look with pale cheeks leaves no doubt.
