Red-necked Phalarope

Paris Landing; Henry Co TN

These images of the Red-necked Phalarope 1st found by Terry Witt are all distant, and probably not good enough to differentiate between Red-necked and Red Phalarope. These semi-distant winter-plumage phalaropes have given me a hard time the few times I've encountered them. The bill looked thin at all times, but the back was a little more uniform than I had expected a Red-necked to be. At times, narrow light markings were visible on the upperparts though. Though obviously a small shorebird, it seemed a little bigger than I expected a Red-necked in comparison to nearby birds.
