Black-backed Woodpecker

Sax-Zim Bog; Duluth,MN

This was one of the highlights of the trip. When I 1st found this female Black-backed, she was tapping on the base of a pine, only a couple of feet off the ground, and less than 10 feet away! by the time I had gotten my camera, she had moved to another tree.

These birds are very elusive, the Northern Three-toed even more so. We looked for these birds on my last trip up, so I was very stoked when I found this one.

Nikon Coolpix 4500 ,EagleEye 5X Opticzoom
