This is a small part of the Franklin's Gull flock on the flats of Eagle Creek on KY Lake in Henry Co on 10/31/04. There are at least 75 Franklin's in view in this shot, and everything but the 2 Herring's in view is a Franklin's. I wound up with a final count here of 518, but they were packed so tight in places that I know I missed some. There were also 75+ more on the lake out from Eagle Creek. Just up the road at Britton Ford there was another 1000+ birds, for easily 1600+ Franklin's on the day.
The fowl weather this morning no doubt put these birds down today. Jeff Wilson had a similar scene in Memphis this morning as well, with several hundred Franklin's on the Mississippi.
