Killdeer

Lake Co. TN

This rather large Plover is easily known in adult plumage by the double black breast bands on white underparts. It is distinctive in shape and actions as well, being especially long-tailed. In flight it has a bold white wingstripe and distinctive orange rump and tailbase. Uttering its name constantly doesn't hurt any either! With a close view the bright red orbital ring is stunning.
