Akekee

This Akekee, or Kauai Akepa, is definitely the best of the endemics I got a shot at, and is endangered, although I saw the birds on three occasions along Pihea Ridge and the road through Koke'e. This shot, while not good at all, was very lucky as I just snapped this one shot which the auto-focus got close on. The extensive black face and silver finchlike bill are obvious. This bird when flying over will remind you of a goldfinch as it has a distinctly notched tail and finchlike flight.
