As a child I lived for some years in Suriname (South America). After returning to Holland I had to go into military service. Because I wanted to go back to the country I could not forget, I volunteered for Suriname. So in 1967 I found myself walking around in Paramaribo when I saw a beautiful Yashica Mat 124. That's how my career as a photographer started...
