A few weeks ago I drove some Mennonite friends to an event held in central Pennsylvania to raise money for a clinic that treats genetic disorders in young Amish and Mennonite children. The clinic is located near Lancaster, Pennsylvania and is totally self funded. This was the first time the event was held and was attended by thousands of people. The event consisted of an all day auction and food sale.
I took this picture of Mennonite girls playing and “telling each other secrets” on a piece of playground equipment that was to be auctioned off.
About a week later I had a chance to visit the clinic with friends who brought their children to be treated. The clinic is a very special place. It was a sobering experience to spend time there.
