I believe this is the largest tori in japan... it certainly looks like it.
I'd say 2 or 3 x larger at least than the famous water tori in Miyajima.
You certainly have no chance of missing it from with in a radius of about 2 kilometers of Heian Jingu.
Constructed in modern times out of steel it is as unsubtle as the Kinkaku-ji (the Golden Pavilion).
I've gone to town boosting the tori's saturation (and it was pretty saturated as shot) just to give the feeling of just how unsubtle an impact it makes.
