Most of Patton's tanks were modified. Notice the extra plating on the side, to protect the driver and loader. Almost all American tanks at this time (Dec. 1944) had rubberized tracks making the vehicles easier to handle the snow and ice, unlike the German "tracked" vehicles which were metal.
