Comillas has a fishing port, owing to the fact that the Spanish monarchy has been spending the summer at the Marquis of Comilla's estate since the end of the last century. the buildings and the town's old quarter dates back to the seventeenth and eighteenth century.

San Vicente is one of the most beautiful places on the Cantabrian seaboard.
From a natural perspective, it has a magnificent range of beachess, and a lovely estuary scattered with colourful little boats.
The old town of San Vicente is also a charming spot, thanks to its church, castle and the remains of the town wall. The bridges add to the beauty of the town, with the majestic snow-capped Picos de Europa in the background. All this enhances the idyllic nature of this former fishermen's refuge.
The most outstanding monument is the church of Santa María de los Ángeles,. The old Franciscan Convent of San Luis was erected in the fifteenth century and is a well-preserved ruin. The castle, dating from the times of King Alfonso I, is in a similar state, though it is now being restored.
