So here we are…
This is a quite typical Alsatian Winstub (it means literally “room when one can get wine”)…You can see, all is there, the red and with check table cloth, the old rafters, the heavy wooden chair.
It’s cosy, noisy, easygoing… The waiters are quick and smiling.
I know we would have taken a portion of “Choucroute garnie” or a gigantic “Flammekueche”, but we felt like having something lighter, even though equally delicious.
But of course we had our bottle of Riesling…we are in Alsace, after all!
Maybe you would be curious to know what a “Flammekueche” is…
Well, just to give you a rough idea, we might describe it as a kind of Alsatian version of pizza.
It’s a layer of bread dough topped with melted local cheese, small pieces of bacon, a lot of onion and, just to make it lighter (smile) a good dose of fresh cream.
But Alsatians are flexible and you can put practically all what you like on a Flamm’.
Do you feel already hungry???
