Ingredients for 4:
250 g semi-hard cheese (grated)
2 eggs
1 egg yolk
A splash of white wine
Cayenne pepper
Pepper
Nutmeg (grated)
8 slices of toasting bread
Preparation:
Mix together the cheese, eggs, egg yolk and wine and flavour with cayenne pepper, pepper and nutmeg. Spread a thick layer of the cheese mixture on each slice of bread. Grill on a baking sheet in the oven for about 10 minutes.

It commemorates the battle for Fort Malakoff near Sebastopol.
Soldiers from Vaud took part in this battle, fought during the Crimean War(1853-1856).
