Common Names: Canada Goldenrod, Meadow Goldenrod, Common Goldenrod

USDA lists 5 varieties while ITIS and eFloras list two sometimes difficult-to-distinguish varieties with greatly overlapping ranges varieties.
var. canadensis: Mid to proximal stems glabrous or sparsely hairy
var. hargeri: (Harger's Goldenrod) Mid to proximal stems moderately hairy

USDA list two varieties found in WA:
var. gilvocanescens: (Shorthair Goldenrod)
var. salebrosa: (Rough Canada Goldenrod) (non-native, disturbed soils, pyramid shaped flower cluster)

Note many stem lance shaped leaves with teeth and club shaped cluster of yellow flowers.
