There's a nice, and has been commented, almost surreal irony to this image--the sharp focus on the doll's eye, and the light reflected in it, suggest that it has become the subject of the portrait, treated with the same skill as your human subjects. Again, it's been said but the contrast between the child's skin and the doll's is vivid, I also like the contrast between the doll's manic expression and the serenity detectable on what you've included of the child. A really striking photograph. V

Simply awesome.... this is a fabulously surreal photograph.

Cheers, Vikas.

This is amazing to me as well, so unusual and powerful. Your treatment places this image right in between reality and fiction, the doll looks so real at first, her eyes drawing you in. There is so much to explore. What a striking contrast you have in the boy's rough skin on his forearm and the smoothness of the doll's "skin". A great statement on the place and situation.

So creative photo. Indeed, the eyes of the doll are very hypnotic. Excellent capture.

Yes, i agree with Gilles, your framing allows them to share eyes.
An image with great depth.

I agree with David and his comments on the doll. This is a different shot fr the usual you take. I had to look again and check my monitor if it was a fly on it then I realised it's on the doll's head. Your emphasise is on the hands ....well done. V

I venture to say Manny that IMHO this is possibly one of your best pieces of work. Your processing is restrained and hence very 'real' which compliments and contrasts the subject. ..a little blue-eyed doll...with fly against the arm ... as Dave said. I REALLY like this. KMc

This is really different.
using the close up of the doll's eyes to show a kind of painted on joy. Your eyes then move to the tired skin of the little girl's hand that seems older than her few years.
Did your experience of Luang Prabang differ from your previous visit(s)?
Were you drawn to the same sort of things photographically?
