this was the first ever portrait i had with my D70 which i would consider successful. i revisit it today and post-process it to see how i would approach this picture now.

stunning- great white background- lovely deliecate lighting on the left-
OK, needless to say, if this was your first portrait (two years ago!!) then it becomes easier for me to understand the reasons why you are simply awesome..;-). From an aesthetic point of view, this works for me most becasue of it's simplicity. The white outfit against the white background, brings her face to the foreground (I am no expert "read complete amateur" at portraiture) but I believe that is one of the secrets of good portraiture. For that reason alone, this image has a punch to it. In a way, your more recent images are more moody, darker and very often framed (veil etc). This image with it's simplicity seems to bring her natural personality through. Maybe just the simplicity of it all...her beauty, and your gift for finding the soul. Either way....you cause me distress by telling me this is one of your first portraits ;-) K
