Queen Meabh

A funky looking Queen Meabh stares out from a mural depicting the story of An Tain Bo Cuailnge on a town centre building.
Jealous of her husband's prize bull, the Queen of Connaught sent her army across the country to seize the Brown Bull of Cooley. But first they have to defeat the nobel warrior Cu Chulainn who stands in their path, as the knights of Ulster have had a curse put on them.
Eventually Cu Chulainn is slain and Meabh's army seizes the bull and takes him back to Connaught where he fights and kills her husband's bull.
The mural is by two local graffiti artists.

Wow, fascinating mural, and very nicely captured. The light on her face is excellent in particular. V.

I like the mural, and I like the way you've shot it (leading the eye away and through) but... and I grant you that I've only looked up the potted version... she seems like a thoroughly mean spirited, "all about me" individual. In fact I think it's likely that I dated her. I note that the artist seems to have picked up on this with the green hair and the green eyes, the colour of envy. The (presumably) raven hanging out with her just adds to the vibe.

She looks every inch the femme fatale she was in the saga.

that's an insightful and modern portrait of Meabh, for surely it was a bold adventure...I know the tale of The Cattle Raid of Cooley best from Morgan Llewelyn's book Red Branch...V

Great story! You have to be impressed with the lengths people went to for prize animals. I admit to having trouble getting my tongue round the names and I wouldn't want to try to pronounce them out loud.
