A Waiting Game

Went to Dublin yesterday and met fellow Irish Pbaser Máire. We had a pleasant
time despite some torrential showers. We wandered around St Stephen's Green,
looking at the People's Photography exhibition on the railings. There was some
very impressive work and some mediocre. While there were quite a lot of people
looking, few seemed to be buying. One photographer had set up a chess board,
perhaps a way of passing time while waiting for a sale.
We also enjoyed chatting over afternoon tea before heavy rain dispersed all
thoughts of taking photographs in the grounds of Trinity College.

I like Maire's photos. I'm glad you two had a chance to visit!

It's an unusual way to attract prospective customers, I suppose. Although the piece placement (notably the missing black king's bishop without any pawns on that side of the board having been moved) seems improbable. Of course, it's been so long since I've played chess that it's possible that the rules have changed and that bishops can now jump! Or maybe not...

I was at a show last weekend and I didn't see many folks buying either. Guess the poor economy has things at a stand still all over.

Sounds like a nice time. I haven't played chess in years!
