Rare

It's rare that a day goes by that I don't take at least one photograph
but today was one of them.
I went on a shopping trip straight after dinner to buy a pair of sandals
which I had seen last week but hadn't bought. The light had faded
by the time I got home so I began to panic about what I would
post for the Scavenger hunt. My old Sigma macro lens doesn't work
with my new camera, ruling out a couple of ideas. I knew I had this
pic of a somewhat rare piece of porcelain (somehow I don't think
it's reproduction) which I saw at the Flower Market a few weeks ago.

Yes... they are still used but now come in throw-away plastic. Less cold on the butt! Use them nearly every day I work (as a nurse... not personally) and I was shocked recently to find that a student nurse had not been taught how to place it and found it backwards beneath the patient! Wonder who developed the bedpan and when...

A fine reminder of how bad things can get. Makes one appreciate the day!

What sort of flowers were in it, dandelions?

Very cool bedpan. Interesting shape! Hope you found the sandals too! I find that if I wait, my size gets sold out. :)

That does look very rare. And heavy. Great image for the rare theme.

Very rare. Modern ones are plastic and considerably smaller. And a great save for the Scavenger Hunt.

Is this for the guests of the Royal Wedding? :-)

I've come close, but I've resisted the temptation to let a day slide this year. (Although it may well have resulted in some mediocre shots.) Posting them is another matter. Still, at least knowing that you had this shot in reserve probably afforded you "considerable comfort"! I haven't seen one of those for years.
