Remember your loved one

Ok, there's no arguing that St Valentine's Day has been
well and truly hi-jacked by commercial interests, from
card manufacturers to peddlers of flowers and chocolates,
And while there is something uncomfortably smug about
the whole occasion, you can still celebrate your love
modestly, without breaking the bank. Breakfast in bed,
a card, a flower, a book, a cooked dinner can all be
as meaningful as an overpriced bouquet of roses.

I hope you had a lovely day with all the things you mentioned. Maybe even an overpriced rose too!

Well said :-)

It may still be an ad, but I do like the contrast between the raw simplicity of this one and the slick marketing drive that usually surrounds the day.

I see Kev is a real old romantic, nice image for today.

Couldn't agree more about St Valentine's day. It's potentially a wonderful occasion so often cheapened by commercial interests. I love this simple but character rich little message. A fine shot. V

LOL@Kevin :o)) Being a single bloke, I tend to keep a low profile on the 14th...I do however agree entirely with your sentiments!

roses and chocolates have become the marketable formula, readymade items for the easily led consumer...still it is a good idea to express your love to that special person, although hopefully more often than once a year on this designated day

I bought her a card ....... I think it was in 1981 ......

Unfortunately you are right Valentines Day and all the other days have become much to commercialized. I am making breakfast for us this morning. :)

I agree Mairead! Valentine's Day, as well as other "holidays", have all become Hallmark extravaganzas.
But there is something comforting about only sharing this day with your special someone.

you are so right! Have a happy, modestly but romanticly celebrated Valentine's Day. Uschi V)
