What's For Breakfast

My favourite breakfast is porridge with dried fruit, honey and milk.
Funnily enough, I didn't like porridge as a child, and a poem
which resonated with me began:
'I don't like porridge
Skinny and brown
Waiting for me
When I come down'....
Can't remember the rest of it, but it was obviously written about
the sort of gruel made with water and cooked for hours rather
than today's porridge which is popped in the microwave and
cooks in minutes.

I look at this charming shot often. There is such a homey, warm mood here and I love the china, a fine capture. BV

Beautiful - great DOF and love the colors! I'm not a porridge eater but do like oatmeal. Makes me think of "Pease Porridge hot, Pease Porridge cold, Pease Porridge in the Pot
Nine Days old" rhyme..but I'm sure this isn't 9 day old porridge! LOL.

I remember that poem. I love it now too. Dad used to make it for use several times a week in the winter.

A beautiful image, but porridge is not for me. Growing up in South East Asia completely changed my food outlook.
