True Blues

Blue is the colour that unites my husband and son as far as football goes
but that's where the similarity ends.
Having spent most his youth in Greater Manchester, my husband has
followed Oldham though success and failure. There's nothing glamourous
about The Latics, as they're known, and one of their claims to fame
is having of the highest (and therefore coldest) football ground in
England. They were in the old Second Division (Championship) when I first
met him, and this year he is relieved that they escaped relegation to League Two.
It's somewhat strange but most Irish kids support a big
English club as the Irish clubs just don't have the glamour of Man U,
Chelsea or Liverpool. My son got interested in football just as Chelsea
were enjoying success under Jose Mourinho, and the fact that the
Irish player Damien Duff was playing with them at the time, gave
him another reason to become 'a blue'.
Today Chelsea won the Premiership title after the tightest race in
many years.

It's a great photo and it's even more nice that your husband and son share this sport.

I know nothing of football in any country, but I know this is a wonderful image to introduce the topic. Beautiful colors and nicely lighted too.

From the perspective of one hemisphere (and a total lack of interest in non-squash ball sports) away... I have not the foggiest. But it's a nice, comfortable-feeling domestic still life, though.

It's my burden to have been a Hibs supporter in my youth - all memories of Easter Road are of the Hibees on the wrong end of a thrashing, or at the very least a comprehensive defeat...I'm so glad I'm not interested now :o)

I'm pleased - I've been following Chelsea since 69-70 - through some pretty thin and embarrassing times, so I feel no guilt whatsoever about the last few years! Been celebrating this evening :)

Eight Nil certainly made a point today.
