Started over thirty years ago,our back garden has been a vegetable garden,
a children's play area, a place to dry clothes, a place to build snowmen.
We never became expert at making barbecues,
but there were many birthday parties celebrated there.
During good summer weather, we had meals out there.
Our dog regarded it as his personal racing track, and
there is a memorial to him at the back of the garden.
The gooseberry bushes came from my old home,
the rhubarb from a friend's garden,
the peony roses from cuttings from a garden in the Aran Islands,
the rosemary from an opportunist slip I sneaked from a large plant one evening while out on a walk.

The garden is still a work in progress. We recently installed a water fountain and replanted the herb plot.
Plans are afoot to uproot the old hedge and replace it.
I'll continue to document its changes, as I have done for over three decades.
This gallery will be an informal ramble through the garden's habitat and a glance at its inhabitants.
