OK I'd seen enough and quite frankly was sick and tired of the vinegar smell. Even 100% undiluted the vinegar did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to the calcium..

My take on this, save your money and put it towards something that may actually do something. Snake oil? Urban myth? You decide.....

Please keep in mind that what you put into the head will pass most of the hose very quickly and where it sits in the low spots will be very, very diluted. This boat had religious use of vinegar and fresh water and the hose was plugged tight with calcium... Go figure.... (wink)

I've have different experience with vinegar clearing out the pipes and waste tank. We bought an old boat from live aboards. The pipes, head and waste tank were full of this build up....which is actually struvite from urine. Vinegar takes time but works at dissolving it. The tank took a week, replacing the vinegar three times (4 gallons topped with water). Muriatic would have been faster, but more dangerous. The head was dissassembled and soaked (flexible parts replaced). We replaced the pipes, but used them first to test the vinegar. You got to give gentle acids time to work.

Hi great site. I work on boats. I use "Sew Clean" Works the best. Works for all heads, manual or electric. Even vacu flush.

If Vinegar to remove head calcium does not work what does without damage to a Vacuflush system
