Works Like A Charm

This whole mating of the new display to the old transducer will take about 20 minutes to perform, and it works very well.

It was mentioned this to be a temporary fix....any reason it would not continue to work for longer period of time? I just completed bottom job and don't expect to haul out for some time but my display is slowly fading...

Thanks Mainesail for sharing your experience. I did exactly that before reading your tutorial and it works very well.

Now, I have a similar problem with the speedlog meter. The transducer is Airmar (I did not remember to write down the model number), the display unit is Datamarine S100KL. I bought the Datamarine unit on Ebay. After I connected the Airmar transducer to it I could not get any reading (it shows 0.0 knots). What diagnostic process do you suggest I should follow? I read that you can apply 12v current to the display unit in a intermittent manner and I should get some reading. I have not tried that, is it true?

Thanks. This info is greatly appreciated. I purchased a chart plotter with depth. But the transduceThe unit offers spped thru water (which I don't need-rather have spped over ground supplied by the plotter. Water temp-I'll stick my finger in to find out. I had an old 200 Hz transducer in the garage added during haulout and now have a working depth sounder for Nada.
You are the man. Great detail and photos as well. John
