The Zinc End

This is about as good an example I can come up with as to why you need to change your HX zinc regularly. Each engine will be different in regards to zinc erosion so test it at three, four, six weeks etc. to see which works best for you.

This is WHY these heat exchangers have end caps..

Great discussion and illustrations. Is the zinc always near the end cap or can it be on the other side of the heat exchanger..I have a 12D2 and it suggests the opposite side but when I took the brass bolt out it had no zinc- it was a plug bolt - solid. I put a zinc here....acceptable? Should I check the other side?
