Chesaw , Washington

Another " Near " Ghost town with lots of old building, abandoned farms, and cabin. Most these ghost towns are all with a 2 hour loop driving time.

My daddy, Dean Thrasher, ran the tavern for a bit back in the seventies and we lived over the store. i have the fondest memories of chesaw and all of its beautiful charm.

This IS truly a little village out of the past! Great scenery driving over there from Danville border. Went last 4th july with my pipe/drum band, had a great time--going again this July.Y'all come on down, yo can have a fun time I'm sure!!!!!!!! Cris

my grandparents owned the taver and the store for a couple years and i enjoyed the escape from the city up there. it is a very wonderful place. thats my vacation spot for sure :)

Hi there newbies to Chesaw, I lived there too well near by I was around there in the late seventys and up untill Mt St Helens blew up. May 1980
I lived and explored that area for 8 years running. every winter was HARD every summer HOT. we would get wood for the stoves and usually had good water unless a rat died in the Pipes LOL rats consider us intruders up there . The nicest area is along Meyers creek, One summer a welder from seattle had his August Party on his new land and fired a black Powder Cannon off every hour or so It took 5 lbs of black powder. had the big cannon balls till he finally ran out. the problem was he was shooting twoards my place "Daver Andrews farm"so after a wahile I went over there waliking I saw more "fools" gold than ever before.
Im friends with them now and I even saw a neighbor I knew from spokane who was on l the lamb he killed someone drunk driving. ther eare lots of On the lamb people up that way.

My dad and Johnny Thorp each year caught mustangs on Johnny's land (the Thorp ranch is till easy to find by its incredible ranch sign at the end of Main Street.) We'd catch 6-8 horses. We'd chase them into a blind corral, rope and choke them down, put gunny sacks over their eyes, Vicks Vapo Rub in their noses, drag them screaming and throwing snot into our stock truck and head home! Johnny and his wife Alice lived there on the ranch. The great bronc rider Lew Minor worked for Johnny's dad there when Minor was young and Johnny was a boy. Johnny was for awhile a stunt rider and double in the movies. Dale Cosper

Hi from new Chesaw land owners from Tacoma. We are the first 10.5 acres on the hill headed for Canada down the Bolster Road. Now has a sign that claims "Carter's Hill" after my grandson. Bought "dirt" when we bailed from the stock market...a lot better investment and the view from on top of the hill...Wow! Cool site - I want to know more about the land - the people and the history. Be back next month to see about some flat ground for a little vacation cabin or snow hut....

Hi Great day in cycling 75 mile trek By next year hope to take pics of the from my hang glider many thanks for the fabulous breakfast. Hope all the bikers liked it too. maybe nest year we could have a few demo of bike tricks on the motor bikes and the cycles. Bring on the skate boarders too. I just passed through Chesaw a few days ago looking around the area for recreational property. What a great little town and friendly people. It was like stepping back into time. The food at the Tavern was delicious and I wish I could have been there for the rodeo on the 4th.

We are a group of drillers who our owner has said we are staying in a motel in CHESAW. i worked at buckhorn last year. I do not remember anywhere to stay. Is there truly a place to lodge there... ??? thanks for the information.

Is there a town of Chesaw? I visited some folks who had a farm up there, 40 some years ago. Ross Austin was his name. He was grandpa to Fred Gronlund. He raised cats to make
fur mittens out of...as I remember. I was a city girl, newly married to Fred and, had
never seen anyone do that. But, all in all, it was a good visit. Divorced Fred and he
remarried two more times.
